Margaux Monday: A History Of Party-GauxersAugust 29, 2016
TGIM! Mondays have taken on a whole new meaning here at Margaux. At the start of every week we invite our community of fellow Gaux Girls to shop and mingle here at The Studio. During our get-togethers we offer our attendees the chance to participate in the full Margaux experience by helping them find their perfect fit, and stay inspired by what’s happening here at the HQ. After all, classic style is at the forefront of our design process here at Margaux, and we’d like to think that there’s no better way to complete the ultimate party look then with a pair of our timeless ballet flats from our collections.
To celebrate the launch of our newest collection - featuring our first ever pointed-toe shoe - today we’re excited to dive deeper into these ideas and share a brief history of a few muses and modern trailblazers that inspire us to eagerly embrace Monday’s in style. Discover more from our team below who shared their thoughts on our newest style, their fashion icons and their party-gauxing essentials.
MONDAY’S AT MARGAUX LOOK LIKE THIS:
Every day is different, especially Mondays as we’re catching up on emails, responding to inbound from over the weekend, and preparing for the week ahead. The one constant is our team meetings each Monday morning, where the whole team sits down together in our Studio for a check in. This is a forum where we brainstorm, celebrate highlights, and set goals for ourselves. Monday is our favorite day of the week: We’re coming back to the office after a day or two of “downtime,” and are re-energized and excited to get back to work. So with our Margaux Monday events, we wanted to celebrate that feeling of truly loving work – of feeling eager to get after the goals we’ve set for ourselves come Monday. And besides, why does Friday have to have all the fun? As for our most memorable “Margaux Monday,” it was hands down our first birthday party, which we celebrated in May. We had friends, collaborators, even customers come by to celebrate Margaux and what we’ve accomplished in the past year. We were able to step back and appreciate and celebrate how far we’ve come – It doesn’t get any better than that.
OUR IDEAL MONDAY HAPPY HOUR IN NEW YORK:
Currently, we’re feeling inspired by the “old school” New York moments that are beginning to feel fresh and modern again. We also love intimate parties in interesting spaces. We currently have visions of throwing a party at a jazz club uptown: Think soulful music, craft cocktails, and dancing.
WHY OUR POINTED-TOE FLAT IS THE ULTIMATE MONDAY SHOE:
The collection was designed to suit every setting one could wear the collection, from a casual coffee run to a night out. Each texture has a unique personality and application, but each lend themselves to effortless party dressing in fall.
OUR GAUX-TO STYLE ICONS:
While our icons span the decades and each have a distinct personality and sense of style, they all share a certain effortless confidence and classic sensibility. Among them: Jane Birkin, whose tomboyish take on wardrobe staples looks chic even fifty years later; Christy Turlington, who epitomizes beauty inside and out - We’re great fans of what she’s accomplished with Every Mother Counts in recent years. And last (but surely not least), Emma Watson – whose sophisticated style and conviction has set an example in fashion and in life, for our generation.
STYLISH PARTY GAUXERS IN OUR LIFE THAT WE LOOK UP TO:
Our mothers, definitely. They taught us an appreciation for timeless, understated style – And the value of always feeling comfortable and confident in what we were wearing, wherever we were. Comfort means confidence; Confidence is beautiful.
OUR PARTY-GAUXER ESSENTIALS:
A carry-all clutch: Just large enough to fit all the essentials, but not so large that it keeps you from dancing. Lip salve of your choosing: Lipstick, chapstick, balm dotcom. Whatever keeps you feeling hydrated and fresh all night long. Party earrings: They can take your office outfit from day-to-night in a pinch. Forget the change of clothes – Just add a little sparkle with interesting jewelry and you’re good to go.
ON MAKING THE MOST OUT MONDAY’S:
Make sure you find time to unplug over the weekend! It’s absolutely essential to feeling refreshed and “RTG” come Monday. Even if you can only put your phone and computer down for an afternoon, make sure you give yourself that headspace. And always get a good night’s sleep on Sunday night. You’ll wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go.
